Colon cancer has been striking people at a younger age and more aggressively than it has in the past! Nobody knows quite why that is happening. We do know a lot, however, about how to prevent colon cancer.
Your colon is just like the rest of your body… it responds well to a healthy lifestyle. Foods that are good for the colon are low in fat and high in fiber and nutrients. In other words, foods like beans and vegetables. (Want more information, check out this video at Nutrition Facts). Exercise is good for the colon, too!
Even if you follow the healthiest lifestyle, we still recommend colon cancer screening. Depending on your personal health history, you can screen for colon cancer with stool cards, a stool sample (like the Cologuard kit I talk about in my video) or with a camera, called a colonoscopy. For men and women, colon cancer screening starts no later than 45 years old. Need more info? Reach out or call your doctor today!
